The 1996 Society celebrates the year Southern Virginia University was renewed as a gathering place for Latter-day Saints and those who share our values.
Members of the Society enrich the student experience and carry forward the founding vision of SVU, ensuring our students thrive academically, spiritually, and personally.
It is reserved for alumni and friends who give at least $1,996 per academic year to support the students. Members receive exclusive university content, gifts, and regular contact from university ambassadors.
About the 1996 Society
In 1996, a group of pioneering founders re-established Southern Virginia University as a private university aligned with the restored gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Nearly 30 years later, thousands of Latter-day Saints and like-minded students have received a transformative SVU education that has lifted them intellectually, socially, and spiritually.
The 1996 Society recognizes our founders and every other Knight—students, parents, faculty, staff, and friends—who have helped build the university into what it is today.
